Do you ever find it difficult to keep your kitchen clean? Sometimes it feels like we clean, clean, clean and in a blink of an eye dishes pile up, there is something spilled on the counter and the stove got dirty. Today we’re going to talk about all of the tricks and tips we’ve found that will help keep your space clean all the time.
Tip 1: Clean Before You Cook
This may seem common to some people but before you start cooking your meal make sure that you have an empty dishwasher or sink. Doing this allows you to easily rinse and put dirty dishes where they belong. It will help declutter your actual cooking space and you’ll have your meal done in a flash with minimal damage to your surroundings.
BONUS TIP: Try washing your dishes while you’re still cooking or right after you’re done using a dish, you’ll thank yourself later when all you have to do after eating a big dinner is rinse your plate.
Tip 2: Spot Clean Stains
Have you ever looked down at your counter and noticed a juice or coffee stain? You can rub and rub and rub but nothing happens. Try mixing a tablespoon of water with a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide, and watch that stain wash away from your beautiful counter. If something is baked onto your stove, pour a little bit of that mixture right onto that stain and use a super fine steel wool sponge to gently scrape off anything stuck to the stove.
Tip 3: Baking Soda, Baking Soda, Baking Soda
Is there anything baking soda cant do? If you want to save a bit of coin try making your own cleaner with baking soda. Mix 1/3 a cup of baking soda with 2 gallons of water for a fragrance free and green cleaner. If you’re a fan of fragrance pop into any store that sells essential oils and add a couple drops of your favourite scent. This cleaner is good for floors, backsplashes and countertops.
Tip 4: Cleaning your Microwave
The quickest way to clean a microwave oven is to put a few wet paper towels inside and set it to High for 3-5 minutes. The steam from the towels will soften the grime. Let the paper towels cool down and use them to wipe the oven’s interior. To give your microwave a fresh scent combine 1 cup of water with ½ cup of lemon juice in a measuring cup or bowl and heat it on high for 3–5 minutes. Wait 5 minutes before removing the bowl and open the doors to have a fresh place to warm up your food.
Tip 5: Clean Oven Overhaul
Take a day to give your oven a deep clean, you’ll find that a clean oven will make your whole kitchen look 10 times cleaner. First soak greasy grates on your stove with little ammonia overnight and in the morning wipe clean for brand a new look. Deep clean the interior of your stove by mixing baking soda, water, and dish soap coat the whole inside, wait 10 minutes and wipe away all the dirt and grime that has been baking inside. Lastly clean the oven grates by mixing water, dish soap and a dryer sheet (weird but affective), let sit overnight and wipe away dirt in the morning. You’ve basically got yourself a brand new oven.
